This isn't even a recipe, just a technique! So happy that I came across this on bakerella.com one day!
1 box of cake mix
1 can of frosting (16oz)
1 package of chocolate bark (white, milk, or dark)
wax paper
The picture shows Red Velvet Cake balls made with red velvet cake, cream cheese frosting and milk chocolate bark.
Bake the cake in a 9x13 pan as directed. Allow cake to cool.
Crumble cake into a large bowl and then spoon out frosting into the bowl. Mix thoroughly with spoon, but may be easier with hands.
Roll mixture into 1 inch balls and line up on a cookie sheet (should make 45-55). Chill for several hours, or speed up by sticking in freezer.
Melt chocolate in microwave. Roll balls in chocolate, using a spoon to dip, then tab of extra. Line up on wax paper to harden. Melt a few pieces of chocolate at a time, because it starts to cool it thickens, you want to keep it hot and thin. To be fancy, you can drizzle the extra chocolate on top of the balls.
Combinations I have had:
Red velvet cake + cream cheese frosting + white chocolate German chocolate cake + German chocolate frosting + milk chocolate Chocolate cake + chocolate frosting +milk chocolate Yellow cake + peanut butter frosting + milk chocolate
Whatever combination you want!
